Final year Business and French student, Marie-Louise O’Callaghan, has been selected as the Trinity Business Student of the Year 2019.

The awards programme is supported by Bank of Ireland and the Trinity Business Alumni and has been going for 25 years.

O’Callaghan (pictured) is the first female president of the Trinity Student Managed Fund, a student-run organisation with over 1,000 members that operates a real-life financial portfolio under the guidance of industry experts. According to the college, she has more than doubled female participation.

O’Callaghan is also the founder of the Women in Leadership conference that brings together industry experts in support of a gender balanced workplace. The conference has grown into a mentoring programme designed to inspire and support the next generation of business leaders.

In her spare time, Mary-Louise also captains the Trinity Ladies Tennis team.

Provost Patrick Prendergast commented: “Two and a half decades ago Trinity alumni came together with academic staff and corporate sponsors to find a way to incentivise students to develop their skills and broaden their scope. As we embark on an exciting new phase of innovative business education with the opening of our new building for the Trinity Business School next month, we celebrate those awardees who are at heart of it.”
