Kilkenny-based fintech company TransferMate Global Payments is adding another 25 staff to its Irish workforce, following the completion of a previous hiring round of 25 begun in January last.

The Irish-owned foreign exchange broker has forged partnerships across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. According to Barry Dowling, MD and co-founder at TransferMate, the firm is experiencing rapid growth and last year transferred €4.6bn in foreign currency for its clients.

He added: “The appetite of both businesses and individuals to move away from the traditional methods of transferring money is growing, just as we had predicted at the beginning of the year.

“Consumer behaviour is changing and we are at the forefront of that change, driving the message that companies and individuals have a better, faster, more competitive alternative than the banks.”

All of the 25 new positions will be Irish-based, dealing with TransferMate’s clients around the world, with additional positions also opening up in multiple cities overseas.  The firm said that it is primarily looking to fill in-house and field-based sales roles.

This recruitment process will bring the total number of TransferMate’s employees in Ireland to 130 and globally to 150.

TransferMate was founded by Barry Dowling, Sinead Fitzmaurice and Terry Clune, and was launched in 2010. The company booked a profit of €257,000 in 2013 to bring year-end net worth to €454,000.

TransferMate is a subsidiary of The Taxback Group and its majority shareholder is Terry Clune, who also founded Taxback and ConnectIreland.
