IAPI announcing tech startup initiatives

Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) is introducing digital initiatives in a bid to tap into Dublin’s startup community. The company’s ultimate goal is to show agencies that problem-solving through collaboration and new technology can unlock potential and drive growth.

The following initiatives will be taking place over the coming months:

The 10% Academy – Tech “Speed Dating”

The IAPI 10% Academy is an initiative based on the premise that 10% of any marketing budget should be devoted to innovation. The academy will include a programme of events and training masterclasses, taking place over three weeks in October. The invitation-only programme is for agencies’ creative directors, planning directors and digital directors. One of its masterclasses is on design thinking, featuring digital expert Dr Johnny Ryan.

The academy concludes with a speed-dating-style “Meet the Makers” session with a select group of marketing technology and ad-tech start-ups across relevant industry sectors.

Start ups can apply for the academy by submitting a simple Q&A application by Thursday, October 8. A short-list of 15 tech startups will be selected to take part in the speed dating session. The programme is a gateway to securing direct access to decision makers for brands and agencies. Applications can be sent to info@iapi.com.

“Perspective” — digital website for adverting agencies and Irish publishers

IAPI is collaborating with Zenith Optimedia, ICAN and Javelin to produce and maintain a one-stop resource for creative, digital and media agencies. The website, www.perspective.digital, will host a database of specs for Ireland’s most-visited websites.

The site will act as a tool for creative, media and digital agencies producing digital ads for clients. Perspective is scheduled to go live early 2016.

IAPI Digital Training

IAPI will be rolling out a programme of training courses geared toward its members, including:

  • Art Direction for Digital on October 9
  • Beyond the 30 sec spot”: taking a strategic approach to multi-channel video on October 13

Tania Banotti, IAPI CEO said: “At IAPI we are acutely aware, through our members, that brands are now looking to technology to help solve business problems and to find new ways to connect with consumers.  There is now an appetite amongst creative, media and digital agencies to take the lead on this for their clients. Through the 10% Academy and the other digital initiatives we are rolling out, we are facilitating this demand.”
