Car manufacturer SEAT has announced a €6 million profit on sales of €8.3 billion in 2015 – the company’s first surplus since 2008.

The growth in sales for the third year in a row, exceeding 400,000, was the result of stronger demand in core markets Spain, Italy and Germany, and the brand’s success in Mexico.

Leon sales were 60,900 (+4.4%) and Ibiza model deliveries were 153,600 (+2.4%). Deliveries for the Alhambra improved by 17.2%.

The company improved its EBIDTA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) by 30%, reaching €391 million.

The increase in sales and production enabled the creation of 350 new jobs in the entire SEAT Group, including 100 engineers at the Technical Centre.

Highlights for 2016 include the launch of the Ateca (pictured), the brand’s first SUV, which was recently presented at the Geneva Motor Show.
