Motor Industry Applauded In SIMI Awards

Finlay Motor Group won ‘best franchised sales operation’

Kildare firm Finlay Motor Group scooped the prize for the best franchised sales operation of the year in the SIMI Irish Motor Industry Awards, which were held in Dublin last night.

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry awards are now in their sixth year and aim to recognise businesses that have excelled in the Irish motor industry over the last 12 months.

Finlay Motor Group is one of Ireland’s biggest Ford dealerships, having acquired the franchise in 1987. Established in 1936, the company is headquartered in Naas.

Over 700 guests turned out in the Hilton Hotel in Dublin for last night’s awards, which were announced by RTE presenter Des Cahill. Nine award categories were included in the competition.

SIMI award winners were:

Franchised Sales Operation of the Year – Finlay Motor Group, Kildare;
Franchised Aftersales Operation of the Year – Joe Duffy BMW, Dublin;
Commercial Vehicle Operation of the Year – Truck Services, Cork;
Independent Sales Operation of the Year – Kevin Egan Cars, Sligo;
Independent Aftersales Operation of the Year – Mark Murphy Motors, Kilkenny;
Bodyshop of the Year – Red Abbey Motors, Cork;
Vehicle Recovery Operator of the Year – Irish Towing Services, Dublin;
Motor Factor of the Year – Parts for Cars, Dublin;
Outstanding Achievement Award – Climb4Cancer.

Alan Nolan, director general of SIMI, said that the awards have grown in terms of entries and categories each year. “This year’s entries have really raised the bar in terms of both standard and quality. It is great to see our members continuing to develop and improve their business,” he added.
