Mazda has premiered the second model in its new-generation line-up, the Mazda CX-30 compact crossover SUV, at the Geneva Motor Show.
Mazda says that basic performance attributes such as accelerating, turning and braking have been dramatically enhanced.
“We designed the CX-30 (pictured) to be an essential partner in the customer’s daily life,” said Mazda’s Akira Marumoto. “The car will be made at key global plants so we can deliver Mazda’s renowned driving pleasure and matured Kodo design to customers all over the world.”
Meanwhile, Mazda Ireland has announced pricing and specification for the all-new Mazda3 hatchback and saloon.
The two cars being launched are a 122ps 2.0 litre SkyActiv-G petrol in hatchback, and 116ps 1.8 litre SkyActiv-D diesel engine in hatchback and saloon. The saloon model Mazda3 will arrive in the showrooms in June.
The model line-up has a choice of four trim levels: GS, GS-L, GT/Platinum (Hatch/Saloon), GT Sport/Platinum Sport (Hatch /Saloon).
Standard features in the new Mazda3 include an 8.8-inch colour entertainment screen, 7-inch digital dashboard, window projected colour Active Driving Display, LED headlights with High Beam Control, Radar Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with rear traffic alert, E-Call and Lane Keep Assist.
Every model in the line-up also features Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and an advanced eight speaker audio system. All trims are offered with both diesel and petrol engines, while a choice between manual and automatic gearboxes is also offered.
The GT/Platinum grade includes a reversing camera, smart keyless entry, heated front seats, while GT Sport/Platinum Sport sees an enhanced cabin enhanced with additional chrome detailing, a frameless rear view mirror and rear privacy glass.
GT Sport/Platinum Sport also sees the introduction of black leather seats with power adjustment, adapted LED lights and Bose audio.
Under the bonnet, the Skyactiv-G petrol engine now features a cylinder deactivation system and Mazda’s M Hybrid 24V system. This mild-hybrid system improves fuel economy by recycling recovered kinetic energy.
A belt-driven integrated starter generator converts the energy in the 600kJ lithium-ion battery, while the DC-DC converter supplies it to the cars electrical equipment.
Mazda’s newest paint colour Polymetal Grey (Hatch only) makes its debut on the All-New Mazda3. GS and GS- L cars feature 16-inch silver wheels, while from GT/Platinum onwards 18-inch Grey/Silver Metallic wheels.
Rear privacy glass and piano black window garnish distinguish the top of the range GT Sport/Platinum Sport model.
Mazda Ireland managing director John Perry commented: “Since the launch of Mazda3 it has continuously enjoyed strong sales in a very competitive segment.
“The all-new Mazda3 is the first of our 7th generation products, with its stunning exterior Kodo design complemented with Mazda human-centric interior design further raises its profile as a segment leader and a true alternative to premium rivals.”
Pricing for the 5-door Hatchback ranges from €26,295 to €35,715. Pricing for the 4-door Saloon ranges from €28,715 to €35,715.
