Pro12 Rugby champions Connacht Rugby are retaining Mazda as their sponsor for what both the team and the car maker hope will be an action-packed season in 2016-17.

Mazda has been Connacht sponsor for six years, and announced it was continuing in the role at the same time as appointing team captain John Muldoon as brand ambassador the season, joining team-mates Kieran Marmion and Denis Buckley.

The Mazda Rugby Clinic will return to Carton House, Co Kildare, on Sunday October 9, when all three brand ambassadors, plus team management and a selection of other Connacht players, will be on hand to pass their knowledge and skills on to younger generations of rugby stars.

The rugby clinic gives an opportunity to young rugby enthusiasts to practice and finesse their skills with top players. As well as getting the chance to meet with the current Guinness Pro12 champions, they will also enjoy prize giveaways. And their parents can test drive the complete 162 Mazda range including world car of the year, the Mazda MX-5.

John Muldoon said: “I am delighted to be a Mazda brand ambassador for the coming season. I have worked closely with Mazda over the last number of years and their support has been persistent since they came on board six years ago.

“This is a very exciting time for both us as a team and Mazda as we face a new season competing in both the European Champions Cup and the Guinness Pro12. For young rugby fans, Mazda’s Rugby Clinic is an opportunity to play and train with players who have been through it all. It offers them an invaluable learning experience that will enhance their enthusiasm and skills no end.”

Details on the rugby clinic in Carton House on October 9 is on Mazda’s website or on Facebook.
