Liberty Insurance has announced plans to create 120 jobs in Cavan over the next three years as part of an IDA Ireland-backed expansion.

The insurance firm has established a new motor insurance claims servicing function in Cavan, which will handle a portion of appraisal work for motor insurance from the US.

Liberty is recruiting applicants for administrative, support and management level positions in Cavan.

“This is an important development for our business operation in Ireland and I’m delighted to see that our expertise locally will support Liberty Mutual’s motor insurance customers around the world,” said Tom McIlduff, CEO of Liberty Insurance.

Currently employing around 400 staff at locations in Cavan and Dublin, Liberty Insurance provides motor and home insurance, as well as commercial insurance products.

In June 2019, Liberty announced that 16 jobs would be lost in its Cavan office after an “operational review” that reportedly saw the work of its finance department outsourced to India.
