Lawyer To Run Ulster Bank Branch Network

Chris Wilson appointed Director of Retail Banking

Ulster Bank has appointed Chris Wilson as Director of Retail Banking.

Wilson was most recently the Managing Director of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s branch and private banking network in Scotland with responsibility for over 200 branches and almost 2,000 staff. A qualified lawyer, he began his career with Burness LLP. one of the largest commercial law firms in Scotland, before joining RBS in 2004, holding a number of key roles within Royal Bank of Scotland Insurance, now Direct Line Group.

In another senior appointment at the bank, the new Head of HR is Lynne Rennie Smith. She joins from RBS Personal and Business Banking HR consultancy practice where she held the role of Lead Consultant. She was also the RBS HR lead for the programme to separate Ulster Bank Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and integrate the NI businesses into their equivalent areas within RBS.

Before joining RBS, Rennie Smith was a HR business partner with the Nationwide Building Society and prior to that she was Head of Human Resources for House of Fraser.

Ulster Bank chief executive Gerry Mallon said: “Lynne and Chris are already familiar with our business having come from senior roles in RBS, so they will be well-positioned to contribute to our shared goals and targets without delay.
