One of the country’s top five accountancy and business advice firms, Grant Thornton, is to move to a new headquarters on City Quay in Dublin, after signing a lease deal with TIO worth €5.8m annually. The premises at 13-18 City Quay will be built by summer 2018 and will include 107,000 sq. ft of office space and 10,000 sq. ft of retail space.

Grant Thornton, based at 24-26 City Quay at present, recorded a 46% growth in revenue in the past three years. The firm employs over 1,000 people at eight office locations in Ireland and will create 250 additional jobs in the next 18 months.

Managing partner Paul McCann (pictured) said: “We are moving to facilitate the exceptional growth of the firm over the past number of years. Since we merged with RSM Farrell Grant Sparks last year, we have been operating from two separate locations in Dublin.

“In order for us to continue to grow at the rate we are, it’s strategically important that we future-proof the practice and come together in a flagship headquarters. A key selling point of this building is that it enables us to stay in City Quay; it’s where we grew up and we’re very excited about our future here in our new home.”

Grant Thornton Ireland entered the top five accountancy practices in 2014, when it edged out BDO into sixth place in terms of earnings. It’s a member of Grant Thornton International, a $4.6 billion global organisation of member firms, with 42,000 people in over 135 countries.

The company plans to move from 24 City Quay to 13 City Quay in the summer of 2018. Developer TIO is Targeted Investments Opportunities plc, an umbrella fund involving Bennet Construction and Oaktree Capital, the world’s largest distressed-debt investor, or vulture fund.
