85-seat restaurant on two floors

Chef and businessman Dylan McGrath has opened the doors to his newest venue, Shelbourne Social in Ballsbridge. The chef and businessman also operates Fade Street Social, Rustic Stone, Bonsai Bar, Taste and Brasserie Sixty6.

McGrath commented: “We’ve created a menu putting what customers want at the fore and hopefully we have evolved with how people want to eat. We haven’t hung our hat on any particular style. I hope people enjoy dining here as much as we have enjoyed creating it.”

The 85-seat venue includes light-filled gathering areas along with intimate dining and cocktail niches, arranged at ground floor and mezzanine level. The material palette utilises Regia and Arabasacato marbles from Italy, leathers from Spanish tanneries and American oaks.

The interior design is by London outfit 20.20, who design hospitality suites for Premier League football stadia.  They describe the décor as being “a clash of offbeat art and grown-up sophistication, combining laid-back luxury, high-end dining and a cutting-edge vibe, which delivers a new social venue with a playful, urban vibe to the heart of Dublin 4”.

As is the case with all Dublin top-end restaurants these days, the price charged for wine is outrageous.

Shelbourne Social is located at the new Ballsbridge One office and apartments buildings on Shelbourne Road, located between Lansdowne Road and Ballsbridge. The restaurant is open from 5pm to 10.30pm, with a lunch menu commencing from December 12, served from Wednesday to Saturday. Reservations at (01) 963 9777.
