Toyota has reintroduced its Camry model to Ireland after 14 years, this time as a 2.5 litre self-charging hybrid.

The saloon is priced from €39,750 and comes in three grades — hybrid, hybrid Sol and hybrid Platinum. Toyota claims that the powertrain produces up to 90% less NOX emissions, as well as less CO2 emissions, compared to driving a diesel vehicle.

The petrol-fuelled Camry hybrid delivers 53mpg or 5.3L/100km, so between the emissions grade and the fuel economy it qualifies for a road tax charge of €180 per year.

The hybrid Camry has a a wide range of driver assistance technologies such as Automatic High Beam, Full-range Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Control, as well as radar sensors and cameras which assist in avoiding potential collisions and which monitor road signs.

The Sol carries the top spec, including leather seating and door trims as standard, along with heated seats and satellite navigation. Its on the road price is €41,750. With a deposit of €15,030 and credit from Toyota Flex of €26,720, the APR is 3.9%, yielding 36 monthly payments of €303 and a cost of credit of €2,670.
