Dalata Hotel Group has received regulatory approval to complete the acquisition of the operating interest in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin 4.  The four-star property, formerly known as The Burlington Hotel, is now called the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road.

German-based fund Deka Immobilien has bought the freehold interest of the property from Sussex Road Nominee Limited (as legal owner) and BNY Mellon Trust Company (Ireland), trustee of the beneficial owner, BRE Ireland Property Fund. Dalata has commenced operations in the hotel under a 25-year operating lease agreed with Deka.

Located on the corner of Sussex Road and Burlington Road, the hotel comprises 502 bedrooms, two bars, a restaurant and lounge, gym and conference facilities. In 2015, the hotel recorded revenues of €29.5m and a pre-tax profit of €2.2m.

Shane Casserly, head of development and strategy with Dalata Hotel Group, said: “We will continue to invest in the property to ensure that it retains its position as the leading venue for large conferences and functions in the city. We are delighted to be collaborating with such a respected partner as Deka for this investment.”

Meanwhile in Cork, following the acquisition of the Clarion Hotel Cork City by Dalata earlier this year, the hotel has been rebranded as Clayton Hotel Cork City.

Dalata plans a €2m investment at the 4 star hotel to include rooms refurbishment, a new restaurant and improved meeting room facilities. The hotel’s swimming pool, steam and gym have already been upgraded for the newly rebranded Club Vitae leisure club.

Employing 168 people, all staff were retained in the transition from Clarion to Clayton Hotel Cork City (pictured below).
