Newstalk 106-108FM has revised its presenter line-up for its breakfast show following the imminent departure of Ivan Yates. The new presenters are Shane Coleman, Colette Fitzpatrick, Paul Williams and Alan Quinlan, with Yates’s sidekick Chris Donoghue moving to the evening Drivetime show. Vincent Wall will continue to do the business coverage.

The breakfast show is being clipped from three hours to two hours, with Pat Kenny filling three hours between 9am and midday.

George Hook is being moved to a two-hour lunchtime slot, replacing Jonathan Healy. Sean Moncrieff is left in place for two hours of early afternoon nattering, while Newstalk Drive will run from 4pm to 7pm, with Sarah McInerney co-presenting with Donoghue.

Tim Collins, Station CEO said:  “Our strategy is to become the country’s leading talk station for 25-55 year olds and our new schedule reflects the tastes and interests of this younger audience.”

The latest radio ratings show that Newstalk reaches 700,000 listeners weekly, with 379,000 people listening daily. Nationally, in the 25-54yr/ABC1/urban cohort Newstalk has 23% of the audience and is neck and neck with RTE Radio 1 who are at 24% in this demographic.

In the younger 25-44yr/ABC1/urban category the station is market leader both nationally and in Dublin.

Garrett Harte, Station Editor-In-Chief, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Colette, Paul, Sarah and Alan on board.  They bring energy, curiosity and the dynamism to complement the great team of presenters we already have at the station. We are particularly pleased that Colette Fitzpatrick has been able to join our breakfast team in addition to her ongoing commitments to TV3.”

The revised schedule commences in September.
